Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Funding Information

What is Pupil Premium Funding:

In 2011/12 the Government launched the Pupil Premium funding allocation to schools.

This money is given to schools based on the numbers of pupils in the school who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM). From 2012/13 it has been expanded to include all children who have been eligible for FSM within the last 6 years, service children and Looked After Children.

School vision for the Pupil Premium Grant

The targeted and strategic use of the pupil premium funding will support us in achieving our aims and mission statement.

Principles

  • Teaching and learning opportunities that meet the needs of all of the pupils.
  • Appropriate provision for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups.
  • Recognise that not all children who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged and not all children that are disadvantaged have free school meals.
  • Pupil premium funding is allocated following a Pupil Progress Meetings, which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals.
  • We recognise that not all interventions are measureable in terms of attainment outcomes, but research shows that wider opportunities and extended provision can raise self-esteem and increase learner confidence.
  • Limited funding and resources means that not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium interventions at one time
