While we are closed, we have put a range of activities and links together that will help you carry on with your learning at home.

Term 6 Topic

Our theme for Term 6 is Under the Sea! 

 

English

Make sure you read for at least 15 minutes per day. If you run out of books there are lots of resources online – even put the sub-titles on for your favourites TV programmes!

You can also read all around our theme of Under the sea. The class text is ‘Dougal's Deep Sea Diary by Simon Bertram.

Maths

Maths:

The maths for term 6 covers measurement and 2D and 3D shape as well as graphs and statistics.

There will be regular updates on My maths and you can continue with TT rock stars.

There are also resources on Twinkl – just look up Year 5 maths term 6

Top marks has great games and activities.


White Rose Maths

White Rose has prepared maths lessons for each day during the summer term. Each lesson comes with a short video explaining how to complete it. 5 are uploaded each week with a maths challenge on Friday.

The Year 5 Science for term 6 is ‘Living things and their habitats’. This is one theme that is easier to do at home than it is in school! There are two main objectives:

  • Describe the differences in the life cycles of a mammal, an amphibian, an insect and a bird
  • Describe the life process of reproduction in some plants and

Watching any wildlife programme on TV will help you do this. There are many resources online but nothing beats going outside and looking at what’s going on.

Get some seeds or a growing kit and keep a diary of the growth. You can use your garden or just a small pot.
