Mindfulness

Play the background sounds of the sea and close your eyes.  Breathe deeply, slowly in through your nose and even slower out through your mouth.  Repeat 3 times.  Picture yourself on the beach anywhere in the world.   When you open your eyes, you can draw what you imagined, with the waves still playing in the background.

Under the Sea

Watch the video from yesterday about the layers of the ocean and then make a picture with creatures that might live in each of the layers.  You can use paint, or felts, or crayons, whatever you have available.  You might just want to draw in pencil.

Wednesday

English

Today you are going to listen to a very famous poem called Sea Fever by John Masefield.  There are 3 different versions, one with cartoon pictures, one with music in the background and one that is sung.  Always the poem is the same, but which version do you prefer?

Read it yourself from the button below.   Check out the meaning of some of the words.

Under the Sea

You have been learning about the layers of the ocean.  Now it is your turn to build an on ocean in a jar.  You might need some help.

You will need blue food colouring, treacle, (or syrup with dark blue colouring), washing up liquid, water, vegetable oil and a jar.  Read the blog about Eve and me, and for a more advanced model watch the video.  (You will definitely need help if you make 5 layers)

Thursday

English

Today you are going to perform your version of Sea Fever.  You can refresh your memory of yesterday's performances by clicking any of the buttons on the day above.

How will you perform it?  Do you want to use some of your work, maybe your drawings?  Do you want to dress up?  Are you going to sing it, use one of the tunes from the videos, or make up your own?  Are you going to speak it?  What sort of voice will you use?

When you are ready, if you are feeling brave, ask someone at home to record your performance.
