Welcome to Year 6

Term 5 - Home learning hub
Hi all! We really hope you are all staying safe and keeping well. We will continue to add a range of activities and links that will help you carry on with your learning at home.

Please do contact us if you have any questions for us, or want to share something you have done.

Our email addresses are listed below and we would LOVE to see what you have been up to.
Please find below our Science and RE work for you to be working through at home in Term 5 - as well as links to the daily Joe Wicks (Physical Fitness) and Maddie Moate (Science) lessons via Youtube

National Academy and BBC Bitesize

Hot off the press:

What is the Oak National Academy?

The Oak National Academy is a government-backed online learning platform that launched on Monday 20 April.

The new enterprise has been created by 40 teachers from some of the leading schools across England and is funded by the Department of Education.

The Academy provides access to 180 video lessons per week, for every year group from Reception through to Year 10.

BBC Bitesize
Please also find attached a link to BBC Bitesize, which has gone live from 20th April 2020. We will be updating and directing you but for now - please take a look!

BBC iPlayer
Also attached is a link to BBC Bitesize Daiy lessons on iPlayer

As well as looking at the daily lessons on BBC Bitesize of Oaks Academy work do make sure you read for at least 15 minutes per day. If you run out of books there are lots of resources online – even put the sub-titles on for your favourites TV programmes!

Remember to use spelling shed to keep up with your spelling

Another resource we would really like you to have a look at 'El Darado' by Litflimfest. The 7 week focus supports the writing of a narrative story and daily lessons will support all aspects of the writing process. Please follow the hyperlinks below.
Let us know how you get on with this :)

In Term 5 we would be spending the first 4 weeks revising for our SATs (which would take place in week 4 of this term). Revision is where we would be recapping the areas of the Maths curriculum we are not confident with and so there is a lot of reflecting happning:
* Do I understand equivalent fractions? What links can I make with simplifying fractions?
* Can I find 45% of 200? Do I remember my percentages tool box?
* How many meters in 2.4km?

Please use Top Maths, Timestable Rockstars and the lessons from My Maths to recap these areas we feel less confident in, conducting our own gap analysis. Well done to those of you who are regularly accessing the My Maths and Timetables challenges we are setting. Keep it up :)

White Rose Maths

White Rose has prepared maths lessons for each day during the summer term. We use White Rose materials in school as they follow the curriculum very well. Each lesson comes with a short video explaining how to complete it. 5 are uploaded each week with a maths challenge on Friday.

BBC Bitesize daily lessons seem to also be using White Rose resources as well - feel free to use whatever resources you get on best with - or just keep mixing it up!

Top Marks
Top Marks has some fun, interactive Maths games to play - enjoy!

Term 5 and 6 theme: Sustainability

In Term 5 and 6 at school we would be looking at Sustainability and the isssues around being a global citizen.

Below are links to some hyperlinks to lessons and resources from Twinkl that we would be covering in school. Sadly, the presentations are too large to attach to the website but if you click on the lesson link it should take you straight to the correct web address on Twinkl which, as we have already said, has made itself free during the lockdown.
I hope you find these lessons useful :)
